inputattach software package provides utility to connect serial-attached peripherals to the input subsystem, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install inputattach
inputattach is installed in your system.
Make ensure the inputattach package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep inputattach *
You will get with inputattach package name, version, architecture and description in a table
